30 August, 2022, Singapore – The 14th edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and 5th edition of MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, the region’s leading specialist trade fairs for the medical, healthcare, and medical technology (MedTech) sectors return to Marina Bay Sands tomorrow, from 31 August to 2 September. These will be the first physical, largescale, medical and healthcare exhibitions to be staged in Singapore since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the country eases restrictions on travel and indoor events.

As the largest exhibitions of their kind in the region serving the full value chain and endto-end needs of the medical and healthcare sectors, the two exhibitions will present products and solutions covering diagnostics, wearable technology, connected healthcare solutions, rehabilitation and therapy equipment, 3D printing technology, MedTech components, micro and nanotechnology, and more. The comprehensive range of companies on show make MEDICAL FAIR ASIA and MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA the ideal destination for medical and healthcare buyers looking to meet their sourcing and procurement objectives.

This is also the first time the co-located exhibitions will be held in the ‘phygital’ format; in addition to the ‘live’ exhibitions and conferences on the show floor, exhibitors and visitors can use the exhibitions’ digital platform to engage with each other through its AI-powered business-matching system until 9 September, as well as access exclusive webinar content. MEDICAL FAIR ASIA had a digital-only edition in 2020, with the last in-person iteration held in 2018, while MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA was last held in 2018.

Mr. Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia, the organiser of both exhibitions, says: “We are excited to have achieved pre-pandemic levels in terms of the number of pre-registered visitors and international exhibitors. This is testament to the industry being ready to get back to business and the desire for in-person interactions which are at the very heart of the exhibitions sector.”

“Undoubtedly, to thrive beyond the pandemic we must continue to use digital technology to not only extend the reach of the exhibitions to the global community — which is why we are enabling trade visitors and exhibitors to continue connecting with each other digitally after the physical exhibition — but more importantly to continue to increase the value of our offerings to them.”

MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA 2022 back after a 4-year hiatus
Jointly organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia and long-time partner Singapore Precision Engineering & Technology Association (SPETA), MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA returns after four years due to the pandemic. The specialist trade fair is well-timed as Singapore continues to strengthen its foothold and prime position as a high-value MedTech manufacturing base for the region as it continues to recover from the pandemic.

Chairwoman of SPETA, Ms Elise Hong elaborates, “The COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the importance of the MedTech industry and its ability to continue to develop and produce innovative next-generation products and solutions to meet demand. As healthcare systems, COVID-19 cases, and MedTech operations stabilise around the world, the MedTech industry is challenged to continue rethinking the fundamentals of their operations and how they can adapt to healthcare needs of the future.”

This edition of MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA welcomes some 100 MedTech companies from 18 countries and regions, including national and group pavilions from Singapore, Austria, Germany, Japan, and the United States. The Singapore Pavilion features 23 exhibitors representing Singapore’s MedTech industries, of which more than 40% are participating for the first time.

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2022 – Established favourites and new features
MEDICAL FAIR ASIA will also see the return of signature components such as the StartUp Park and Community Care Pavilion, and shed a spotlight on pandemic management solutions, alongside thought leadership content at concurrent conferences and seminars.

Start-Up Park
A key feature at the exhibition for the third time running, the Start-Up Park is an ideal platform for innovative companies with ready-to-market solutions to meet relevant buyers and partners, industry influencers and potential investors. Innovations which will be showcased include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data solutions, wearable technologies and innovative healthcare software.

Community Care Pavilion
The Community Care Pavilion will showcase products and solutions for the ageing population including that for the preventive care and management of chronic diseases, which is aligned with the Singapore government’s recent launch of the Healthier SG campaign, aimed at expanding preventive care to communities so hospitals can focus on complex conditions and emergency cases

Pandemic Management Solutions
Globally, the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped healthcare as we know it and underlined the importance of pandemic preparedness. Even while COVID-19 is still among us, being prepared for the next pandemic remains a high priority. A wide-range of pandemic management solutions will be featured at the exhibition; from test kits and preanalytical supplies, to personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators.

MEDICINE+SPORTS CONFERENCE
The 3rd MEDICAL FAIR ASIA MEDICINE+SPORTS CONFERENCE will see top international sports medicine and sports science experts, physiotherapists and healthcare professionals, sports techies, and professional athletes exchanging insights on innovative approaches in prevention, training, regeneration and rehabilitation. This year marks the first time the conference is featuring a CME (Continuing Medical Education) accredited programme and a virtual segment for speakers attending from Hong Kong.  Paradigm Shifts in Healthcare Symposium Returning for its second run, this year’s theme is Prehabilitation & Pandemic Management in Community Health, led by experts from Singapore General Hospital and Sengkang General Hospital who will share insights on teleconsultations and medical innovations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
